In the fall of 2015 our newly formed library team at St. Johnsbury Academy resurrected a neglected archive using limited resources. We customized a work plan based on best practices that allows us to organize, process materials, and create finding aids to provide maximum accessibility for library staff while encouraging patron use. We prioritized staff time and existing resources in order to position the archives as an opportunity for information literacy and outreach. Learn how we used our archive to hook teens into recognizing the importance of our school history by critically examining the documents and artifacts that create a tactile link to our shared past.
